Pecan Tassies

For the shells you will need:

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 3 oz. of cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup all purpose flour

For the filling you will need:

  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • 3/4 cup of packed light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • optional, powdered sugar for sprinkling

Make dough and shape into 1 inch balls and place in mini muffin pan.  press with a rounded dowel or mini tart shaper in flour or with thumb and fingers until the dough comes up the sides of the cup slightly above the rim.  

Mix filling.  Using a small scoop or teaspoon, fill cups with mixture but leave a little room at the top so they won't overflow.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 to 25 min. or until edges are light golden brown.  Remove from heat and let cool 3 min. then sprinkle with powdered sugar.

This recipe makes 24 tarts and they are so good!
