Angel's Delicious Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 large head of white cabbage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 to 1&1/2 lbs. ground turkey or beef or pork sausage
  • 1 medium size jar of Ragu Garden style Spaghetti sauce
  • 1 large package of dry Lipton onion soup mix
  •  Grated cheddar cheese or any other kind

Directions:

Cut cabbage in half and then thinly slice the cabbage lengthwise.  Place in colander and wash thoroughly.  Place cabbage in a large pot with 1&1/2 to 2 cups of water.  Slice the onion on top and cook on medium heat until tender.  Drain water off the cabbage and a little pepper or soul food seasoning.

While the cabbage is cooking, brown your meat in a skillet and drain off excess fat. 

In an oblong baking pan, put your cabbage, meat, large package of Lipton onion soup mix and Ragu sauce and mix well.  Top with cheese and bake until cheese is melted. 

Enjoy!  Note:  Angel, on occasion has added some leftover green beans or carrots or other cooked veggies to this dish.
